So…I haven’t won that Pulitzer Prize for writing…and I don’t have a happy husband and a house full of tumbling, peanut butter stained kids. But…I have been “sandwiched” by Sybil Danning and Wendi Freeman on a popular podcast. Thankfully, in my world, that makes me the winner.

Danning, of course, is the action goddess who appeared in such cult classics as Battle Beyond the Stars, Howling II, Chained Heat and Hercules. Freeman, meanwhile, is the friendly presence behind Double Page Spread, an entertaining look at the comic book industry.

On a recent episode of DPS, I was lucky enough to join Wendi as she and Sybil chatted about fitness, the power of positivity, Danning’s favorite films and her most recent project – Ruger, a comic based upon L.A. Bounty, one of the movies that established Danning as the female heir to Clint Eastwood and that ilk.

Douglas McKeown’s ZADD Online

Mom always told me wearing that sweater vest would get me into trouble. Now, it’s gotten me killed!!

But, it’s all good! Playing a properly attired business type in Deadly Spawn writer/director Douglas McKeown’s new zombie short ZADD was a shambling blast! Now, this mini monster-piece is finally available for free viewing, online:

Shot and edited in 24 hours (by the ultra amazing Jayme Joyce) and featuring such talents as Friday the 13th‘s Ari Lehman, genre artist Mitch O’Connell (and infant son), Double Page Spread‘s Wendi Freeman and Chateau Grrr ‘s Chad Hawks, I have to say that I am pretty proud of this little adventure in 50s style horror filmmaking.

Now, rock a mean ghoul, everyone!!

A Double Page Spread Halloween!

Don’t worry, Virginia! Halloween never dies. Especially if you’re the divine Wendi Freeman and your (comic book oriented) podcast is called Double Page Spread!

In one of her latest installments (ep. 98), the winning Freeman interviews Andrew Pepoy, the man responsible for the variant covers for Afterlife with Archie, that splatter-ific take on Riverdale, post zombie apocalypse, and Robert Hack, the genius whose artwork is making many folks take a very different, totally spooky look at Sabrina, everyone’s favorite teen witch.

Wendi Freeman’s Double Page Spread

If there was a Wonder Woman among comic book enthusiasts, it would definitely be the amazing Wendi Freeman. She’s a dedicated, uber-friendly fan woman, a talented musician (with drumming gigs in a number of bands) and she’s the super skilled creator and host of the podcast Double Page Spread, which concentrates on comics and their creators and other pop culture goodies. Just what every cool mom would want her daughter to turn out to be, right?

Now, all thankful matriarchs can rejoice as Freeman has just unleashed the Halloween episode of Double Page Spread upon the world! Featuring interviews with the queen of screams, Linnea Quigley, and famed cult director Jim Wynorski, this offering is a spooky blast from start to finish!
