Madonna was Into the Groove. Ariana Grande, meanwhile, was only Into You…while The Psychedelic Furs were, dramatically, Into You Like A Train. Now Dagger Cast, happily, gets Into the Mix with amazing gay dance music artist Jaime Adrian. Jaime’s latest song What Were You Drinking? has reached close to 80,000 streams…but more importantly, on this latest episode, Jaime focuses on the screams! He fills listeners in on his favorite horror film queens (including Buffy) & describes how a childhood with a genre loving father has shaped his world. So, save up all your tears for Charisma and dive into the show at:

Waving our rainbow flags proudly, the team at Dagger Cast celebrated Pride 2022 with two amazing guests – LGBTQIA historian Owen Keehnen and maverick storyteller Sarah Yeazel. Below are brief descriptions of each episode and links for viewing.
As if watched over by the incisive, kick-ass celluloid trio of Adrienne Barbeau, Karen Black & Lynda Day George, writer-historian (and consummate horror lover) Owen Keehnen has been one of Chicago’s most colorful and important chroniclers of the LGBTQIA experience for decades now. From his work with the iconic powerhouses of ACT UP in the ‘80s to his current passionate pursuit of chronicling the history of both the Belmont Rocks and Man’s Country, Keehnen is the very essence of Pride in action. Thus, Dagger Cast is thrilled to have him as our guest this June. Please join us as Owen regales us with tales of such iconic Midwest drag personas as Miss Tillie & The Bearded Lady and explains why Barbara Hershey is the perfect scary movie goddess for his (and every) generation!
…and if that wasn’t enough for your ears and eyes to take in…Dagger Cast is further honoring Pride Month by conducting a fun and informative chat with non-binary writer extraordinaire Sarah Yeazel. Yeazel is a great storyteller and their remembrances about coming out via Kathy Bates pin-ups & reflections on Shelley Winters’ bad lesbianism in What’s The Matter with Helen? are not to be missed!
Thanks for watching…and until the next time, SWEET love and pink GRUE, Big Gay Horror Fan!
Actor-director-writer Chris Moore is one of the most inspiring gay artists that I know. In the past 6 or 7 years, he has produced 4 accomplished horror films. Nicely, Children of Sin, which begins streaming on Amazon on 4/22/22, is his queerest and bloodiest yet. We were thrilled to have him on the latest episode of Dagger Cast to talk about all the behind-the-scenes magic (& low budget craziness) at hand and know that only the most determined and antisocial Mary Esthers would not want to check out what this brilliant young artist has to say.
As we arrive upon the February premiere of Netflix’s latest iteration of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it is the pleasure of everyone at Dagger Cast to have the brilliant Debra Sullivan as our latest guest. This skilled actress-writer co-wrote 2013’s money making Texas Chainsaw 3D and she, happily, takes listeners through the creative triumphs & challenges of that process. Thankfully, for theater lovers, Sullivan also gives us some background into her more stage worthy projects & also provides us with the inside scoop on her involvement in Secret Santa, the gonzo-magnetic holiday slasher from Skeleton Crew, & 13 Fanboy, the latest, much talked about Friday the 13th inspired horror homage.
Memories of Leatherface and utmost creativity await…
Until the next time, SWEET love and pink GRUE, Big Gay Horror Fan!
If you want to know, assuredly, where those ever-evocative Lady Wigs truly belong, then the latest episode of Dagger Cast is definitely meant for you! Here, we talk with the multi-talented Gabriel Sanchez about his most memorable moments touring as the man behind the super popular The Prince Experience. We also dive into discussions about his favorite horror films, including The Lost Boys and the original The Wolf Man. Most importantly, we do determine the perfect location for those rapidly self-generating hairpieces, worldwide…while also touching upon the Purple Paisley God’s horror film soundtrack credits (including Wes Craven’s underappreciated Vampire in Brooklyn).
Wow! What a day! Not to brag, but I just received my official certificate to become a full time member of Nova and the Country Gays! “What is that?” you may ask. —-
Well, it is a glorious honor that is bestowed only upon happy Dagger Cast listeners after they engage in our current episode featuring the divine Eliska Hahn. Eliska has been traumatically radiating across movie and television screens, as of late, as part of the magnetic featured cast of Halloween Kills! She fills us in on a bevy of delicious behind the scenes factoids about that current slasher blockbuster… and takes us back in time a bit to reminisce about her participation in the Troma distributed cult classic Invasion of the Space Preachers.
Your entry into fabulousness awaits!
Until the next time, SWEET love and pink GRUE, Big Gay Horror Fan!
“I think about you when I’m dead. I’m underground, you’re in my head” – No Men —
No Men’s mind-blowingly intense front woman, Pursely, shows off her zany, irreverent sense of humor on the latest episode of Dagger Cast! Among many other things, we chat about the Final Destination series, creative ways to survive an apocalypse and how, as a gay woman, Brad Pitt’s lesbian hair in World War Z makes her feel seen! It was the best hour that I’ve spent in a long time…and it might just bring a bit of light hearted death metal flair to your post Halloween weekends.
Until the next time, SWEET love and pink GRUE, Big Gay Horror Fan!
The latest Dagger Cast is up ‘n streaming! Lindsey and I catch up a bit, reviewing the world of horror a mere week before the stay at home orders went into effect.
We also have a sweet conversation with talented actress-writer Angela Riccetti. Angela is the lead of Limerence, a fantastical lesbian romance with some Twin Peaksstyle elements. This episode, which will hopefully go down in our history as the only show where my weak bladder makes an appearance (..pee break, anyone?!?!..), is available for listening at:
Until the next time, SWEET love and pink GRUE, Big Gay Horror Fan!
You can keep your Vanessa Redgrave, your Florinda Balkan, your Bonnie Aarons. They’re all awesome, but none of them can hold a cloistered candle to Corinne Halbert! One of Chicagoland’s most important horror artists, Halbert joined us on the latest Dagger Cast to talk about her influences and how discovering a love for the macabre in your youth shapes you. Believe me, we can all relate, right?!? In particular we look at the nunsploitation genre, including such classics as The Devils and School of the Holy Beast, and how it has informed her work.
Also joining us this time around are the amazing Rhea D and Coye Vega – con regulars, cos players and generally awesome people.
Queer writer and Midwest bon vivant Aaron Eischeid brought his A game to the holiday episode of Dagger Cast! Promoting A Scry for Help, his demon inspired tale of grief, Eishcheid regaled us with tales of Clive Barker and conjuring….and even answered a few of our goofy questions about Santa tinged slashers!
This episode also marks Dagger Cast’s one year anniversary. It’s been such an amazing pleasure to chat with all of our guests…and to do all those gloriously goofy post show photo shoots! We can’t wait to continue with more sonic (and visual) alternative horror adventures in 2020!
Until the next time, SWEET love and pink GRUE, Big Gay Horror Fan!
