Supposedly named after artist William Wegman’s dog, obscure New Wave band Fay Ray’s moniker naturally conjures up images of America’s first queen of scream.

In fact, the spookily effective Love is Strange, featured on their only major label release Contact Me, definitely seems to recount how the theatrically inclined Fay Wray’s Ann Darrow must have felt about her biggest co-star, King Kong!

H-m-m…I guess that’s art influencing art, for those keeping score!

Prolific Ira Levin sure knew how to write about men who left a mark. His Rosemary’s Baby has haunted many a generation – damn kid! – and the subject of his song He Touched Me sure produced a trembling sensation within a young Barbra Streisand, whom covered the tune on her second LP, My Name is Barbra, Two.

Love is exhilarating, no? Especially when you throw those Boys From Brazil into the mix!

Mary Shelley might be rolling over in her grave…or maybe she’s lifting up her ghostly petticoats and doing a happy little hoedown.

One certainly can’t fault Dolly Parton’s sense of creativity by comparing the effects of drinking to the Frankenstein monster with her song Drinkin’stein. Of course, Sylvester Stallone’s delivery may be another story! As part of the plotline for the movie Rhinestone, in which Dolly’s Jake has made a bet to turn Stallone’s tough cabbie into a country singer, Stallone surely gives the fun tune a whirl…but the results, for some fans, might simply be monstrous!

Music to Make Horror Movies By: Don’t Go in the House

Chick-en on a stick!!! One of the most notorious horror shockers of the 70s, the grim Don’t Go in the House is best remembered for director Joseph Ellison’s execution of the (very real to life) barbequing of one of the disturbed lead’s victims.

Thankfully for viewers, during the thick of the proceedings, Dan Grimaldi’s sensitively portrayed Donny took a break from his fiery missionary work to attend a nightclub. Of course, as the film’s eagle eyed followers ascertained, that visit didn’t turn out so well for yet another female companion…but it did provide some relieved patrons with this delicious slice of disco fever and the movie with its very appropriate, unofficial theme song!

Yes, lovers of terror and hoarders of fright, it’s time to go L’Ectrique and get Struck by Boogie Lightning!

Jennifer Lopez may be best known as a celebrity or one half of various famous couplings or even as the star of such vehicles as Selena and The Wedding Planner. But this luscious lass, also, has a bit of a terror pedigree with roles in flicks such as Anaconda, The Cell and (most recently) The Boy Next Door.

While Lopez’s heroines eventually reigned over her nasty adversaries in those films, she need have only looked to her recording career to have gotten the one-up on them immediately. Like the first single on her 2005 release Rebirth, Lopez only would have had to tell those opponents to Get Right and she might have saved herself a world of trouble.

Thankfully, since assuming the mantle of America’s premiere cabaret artist, gentler things have been surrounding Marcovicci like…Glitter in the Air.

Here, listening to one of our most respected artistes cover flamboyant pop icon Pink, one might think the things surrounding Marcovicci now are, also, amazingly gay and totally grand! Lucky lady! Lucky us!

As Kimberly Clark in slasher classic The Slumber Party Massacre the eclectic Debra DeLiso took guidance from Pamela Roylance’s supportive Coach Jana.

Recently, in a circle of life moment, De Liso, herself, played the authority figure in the video for (female fronted rock band) Dorothy’s energetic Raise Hell. Nicely, De Liso gets to engage in everything from severe disapproval to wild abandon here, a true testament to her multiple talents.

As Beth Mazza in 2011’s toothy horror Shark Night, Katharine McPhee got a little upset when she learned she was about to be force fed to a pool of cookie cutter sharks. There is nothing worse for a good tan line, huh?

Of course, this former American Idol contestant is, also, a celebrated pop singer and in that world the only thing that causes that much upset is…romance. Hence the title track of this talented lass’ new CD is Hysteria, describing the condition she finds herself in when confronted with a certain sexy someone whom she will never be able to fully possess. Sad – yet somehow dance worthy here.
