If you see a stranger in bloody undies, wielding around a chainsaw in the middle of the road- do not freak! I repeat do not freak out!
It may just be director-writer Tommy Faircloth celebrating the fact that his mini horror piece The Cabin won best short at 2013 San Antonio Horrific Film Fest.
Some guys (and gals) like a broad and muscular back. Others simply prefer them hairless. Big Gay Horror Fan, on the other hand, ONLY cares about the fact that Luna’s Back!!
Yes, genre icon BarBara Luna (Star Trek, Outer Limits, The Concrete Jungle) has been lured out of retirement to play a villainess in an episode of the superhero web series Superseven! And of course, with a sense of delicious underplaying, the ever beautiful Luna simply steals the show, here.
Who is the luckiest of them all, mirror, mirror? Why, Big Gay Horror Fan, of course!
I got to talk with amazing writer-director Carolyn Baker (Screaming Like Banshees Films) about Scumbag, her segment in the upcoming Wisconsin produced horror anthology, Hole in the Wall.
Just remember – Don’t get too jealous when checking this one out!
Growing up as a dreamy little theater fag in farm country, my idols of survival were the vibrant ladies who made it to the end of my favorite horror flicks. Therefore to this day, women like Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween, Terror Train), Adrienne King (Friday the 13th), Dana Kimmell (Friday the 13th, Part 3) and Kimberly Beck (Friday the 13th, Part 4) still make my nerve endings tingle with delight!
Thankfully, talented Chicago filmmaker Matt Storc loves these kick-ass femmes, as well. His next production Final Girls pays homage to all those vicious vixens that kill maniacs in their spare time.

That furry baby falling from the building – the skeletal zombie begging for relief…
Sure, there are plenty of ‘people’ you could help out today. But, why not help out the amazing, friendly folks at McHenry Outdoor Theater?!? The equipment to show films at drive-in’s across the nation is changing – and very, very expensive to acquire. Many of these amazing, historic sky bound cinemas will go out of business without it. Honda is helping save 5 of these palaces with their Project Drive-In Promotion.
And while all of these wonderful venues are worthy of survival, the folks at McHenry are some of the coolest, movie loving-est folks alive. So, vote for them once a day (until September 8th, 2013) at www.projectdrivein.com or via text to 444999 with the message “Vote111”.
“By the day, he’s Dr. Jekyll –
By the night, he’s Mr. Hyde.
Get him on the dance floor,
He can not be denied!”- He’s A Dancer
As a kid one of my biggest disappointments occurred when I discovered that KC was not rhapsodizing about being a monster when he sang “I’m Your Boogeyman” with the Sunshine Band.
Therefore, it was a small restitution (but a restitution, nonetheless) when Teen Beat siblings Kristy and Jimmy McNichol sang about everyone’s monstrously favorite bi-polar duo in their semi-hit, He’s A Dancer.
Granted, the thought of this chirpy pair of celebs singing at all may throw fear into the hearts of even the most hardened horror lovers. But, the McNichol’s do have a terror pedigree, of sorts. Kristy appeared in such genre draped offerings as 1982’s White Dog (maverick Samuel Fuller’s biting, canine look at racism), 1986’s Dream Lover and 1989’s The Forgotten One.
Jimmy, meanwhile, essayed the title role in cult slasher favorite Night Warning (AKA Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker). This late 70’s lensed, early 80’s released epic is full of hag horror gesturing (via Susan Tyrell’s demented lead performance), social activism (due to a psychotically hate filled police detective played by Bo Svenson) and a surprisingly pro gay attitude. Oh, and blood – lots and lots of blood!

Therefore, the exciting new Investigation Discovery series, Double Cross, is right up my alley. (The fact that I appear on the third episode of the series has nothing to do with it – I swear!)
Check out the preview for the first episode, airing on September 5th, 2013, below:
Extremely driven director Ford Windstar proves that Barbara Crampton isn’t the only one who can shriek and laugh with finale ridden abandon! In fact, in the second trailer for his film The Horror, his lead actress does all that – while swigging from a can of beer.
You can check that out here (in a preview that will either really intrigue you or really scare you off):
Welcome! Grab a spider flecked blood cookie and a glass of cranial fluid and take a seat!
Today, we are visiting with vibrant artist Rochelle Heagh Phister and her glorious creation, Dark’s Art Parlour!
Phister is the artistic force behind the gorgeous Brain That Wouldn’t Die painting (above) and the evocative Blood (left). You can check out all her work at www.darksartparlour.com, too!
Rochelle even rocks the right kind of street wear, as well!:
(Let’s face it, half the fun of horror and exploitation is seeing some hot bodies frolicking around in the buff. And while I worship the female form, I believe exploitation definitely veers into the exploitive when only gorgeous women are on display while their male counterparts remain chastely buttoned up. Therefore, The Backside of Horror salutes the filmmakers and actors whom even up the score a bit by showing us instances of hot and juicy male flesh in their bloody celluloid fantasies.)
In his 1981 emotionally charged horror flick Fear No Evil, director Frank LaLoggia (Lady in White) was reportedly working through his feelings of alienation as a gay youth by depicting the story of a young outsider (Stefan Arngrim from Land of the Giants and Class of 1984) whom is wracked to discover that he is destined to become the personification of Satan on earth.
In direct opposition to usual terror fare, the shower scene here takes place in the guy’s locker room and even includes a very wet, very naked kiss between Arngrim’s Andrew and his prime tormentor, Tony (Daniel Eden).
Arngrim, also, shows his stuff upon emerging from the bed of beautiful of Katherine Rowe McAllen (Julie) in a nightmare sequence.
